Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What time does the ceremony start?
A: The ceremony begins promptly at 12:00 PM (Noon).
Q: What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
A: Arriving early means more wait time, but arriving too late—after 11:30 AM—may require parking farther away and walking a longer distance to the Circle of Immortals.
Q: How long does the ceremony last?
A: The formal program lasts approximately 30 minutes, followed by about 90 minutes of wreath-laying.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Please dress appropriately for the weather. The event is held outdoors in December, so warm, weather-resistant clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended.
Q: Will the ceremony be held in bad weather?
A: Yes. The ceremony takes place rain, snow, or shine.
Q: Is there food or drink available?
A: Hot cocoa will be provided. Please do not bring outside food or beverages to the ceremony.
Q: Are children welcome?
A: Absolutely! Children are a vital part of our mission to teach the next generation about honoring veterans. We ask that all children be supervised by an adult.
Q: Is handicapped parking available?
A: Unfortunately, there is no designated handicapped parking available. Please plan accordingly.
Q: Who are we?
A: We are the local chapter of Wreaths Across America, committed to honoring the more than 4,000 veterans buried at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Maryland.
Q: How much does it cost to sponsor a wreath?
A: Each hand-made balsam wreath, shipped from Maine to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, costs $17.00. To place a wreath on every veteran’s grave, we must raise nearly $68,000 each year.
Please note: Wreaths are not available for purchase at the ceremony.
Q: How do you raise the money?
A: All funding is raised through donations. We rely on the generosity of local businesses, foundations, military and service organizations, and individuals in the community.
Q: Can I make a donation online?
A: Yes! The easiest way to donate is through our “Sponsor Online” page, which links directly to our group page on the national Wreaths Across America site. You may also download and mail a printable sponsor form.
